Beyond Call Out Culture. Navigating Difficult Conversations.
February 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
About this Event
Are you afraid of being “cancelled?” How do we challenge, support, and teach individuals before canceling them? Rather than vitalizing cancel culture, let’s find a way to make it a last resort.
Beyond Call Out Culture will explore these current systemic social practices and behaviors on both an individual and group level. The event will include an interactive lecture meant to challenge our perceptions of how we define consent in our relationships and how this impacts our accountability. Throughout this conversation, we will examine the different ways we can establish consensual boundaries. This will include:
Reestablishing a baseline of definitions
Examining the problems with our current culture
Identifying the best steps to move forward in a productive manner
We will provide clear tools to help you challenge yourself and others. We will also teach you how to navigate “call out culture” without losing your sanity, your community, or your mental health.
Let’s go beyond the basic understanding of consent. Beyond resorting to a system of justice as opposed to harm reduction. Beyond last resorts.
Let’s create a culture of communication.
Costs and Associated Fees / Donations
We want this talk to be accessible to all individuals. Normally we would choose to donate to a charity closely related to our own cause, but seeing as the world is on fire, 100% of ticket sales and any additional donations will be given to NSW Rural Fire Brigade contributing to helping the devastation on the Australian wildlife and surrounding communities.
About Beyond the Bare Minimum:
Tired of models that focused solely on avoidance after-the-fact measures, Tim and Lola sought to create sexual harassment education more comprehensive and self-sustaining. Something that goes Beyond the Bare Minimum.
Pulling from years of experience in the speaking and training space coupled with their roots in the sexual education community, they have created practical solutions that meet the needs of companies while also focusing on the long-term.
